Female musicians from the Tomb of Nakht, c. 1401-1391 B.C.

This Tutankhamun pectoral was found in the chapel of Anubis within the Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62); it shows the goddess Nut in human form with her wings and arms outstretched, protecting the cartouches of Tutankhamun. Below her wings can be seen eight rows of hieroglyphs related to protection by the gods.

Limestone relief showing Akhenaten as a sphinx, c. 1349–1336 B.C.
The piece is likely from Tel el-Amarna, the location of Akhenaten’s experimental ‘new capital’ Akhet-Aten. It was sold to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston by Ernst E. Kofler (dealer; b. 1899 – d. 1989) in October 1964.
